1.0 Introduction

Novell^® ZENworks for Servers (ZFS) is a directory-enabled server management solution that leverages the power and security of Novell eDirectory to automate and simplify multi-server management. ZFS streamlines information delivery by automating the distribution of all types of data from single servers (distributors) to other multiple servers (subscribers) within an enterprise network, which can include sites that are accessible only over the Web. The ZFS API describes how to create:

An agent to snap in to the ZENworks for Servers Tiered Electronic Distribution (TED)
The optional Web-based administration of the agent snap-in

3.0 Prerequisites

ZFS will operate on any system that supports a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) 1.3 or above. To test and use a ZFS-enabled application, you need the listed software installed on the client and server. See "Windows Requirements", "Server Requirements", "ConsoleOne Requirements", and "eMFrame Requirements" in the documentation for more information about installing your agents.

NOTE: The Java files included with this document are provided so that you can see and understand the source code for the ZFS API. The class files for this source code are located in the TEDLib.jar file that ship with the ZENworks for Servers 3 product.

4.0 Documentation

We've enabled Start menu documentation entries. After you have installed the documentation, use the "NDK Documents" entry on your Start menu to quickly locate and access NDK documentation.To read or print the documentation, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0, a free download.The download contains several PDF files in the [install directory]\[component name]\NDK\doc\[shortname] directory.

The documents in this download were created as standalone files; therefore, links between files in this download and links to files in other downloads will not resolve.
