Documentation:
The document (LANTEST.PDF) will be installed into the C:\NovellTestKits\LAN\Docs directory and can be viewed with Acrobat Reader.
The documentation is installed in /opt/novell/NovellTestKits/LAN/Doc/ and is available Acrobat format.
Make sure that NetWare and the current Support Pack are installed on your server. The latest Support Packs can be downloaded from the Novell Support Web site.
Log in as Admin or equivalent to NetWare servers from a Windows 98/2000/XP or NT 4.0 client running the current Novell client software.
Install the test controller, TestConsole. Run the install program (TConsole.exe) and follow the instructions given.
Run the LAN tests install program (LANTest.exe) and follow the instructions given.
Log in as root.
If you have not already done so, download LAN Test Tools and TestConsole for Linux from the Novell Developer Kit.
Unzip and untar the downloads.
Install the TestConsole RPM.
Open a terminal and run the LAN Test Tools RPM.
rpm -ivh lankit-version #.i386.rpm
Open a terminal and run the TCLink RPM.
rpm -ivh tclink-version #.i386.rpm
Make sure that the IP mask matches the class of IP Address being used. At the present time this will mean a mask of FF.FF.0.0 as TestConsole requires the use of class B net addresses.
If during testing the TestConsole client becomes unresponsive, it may be due to a server abend.
If you are using a Windows 95 client there may be a problem with IP connectivity. To correct this problem ensure that you have Service Pack 1 installed or that your OS is OSR2. Then run the WS2SETUP.EXE IP patch. This patch can be obtained from Microsoft's support site.
If you can't get TClink to communicate, it might be a broadcast problem.
